My favorite movies of 2021

Every Saturday (almost) we go to the Little Theatre

One of my favorite traditions is going to the movies with my husband Steve on Saturday nights. We have an independent movie theater in Rochester called The Little (the photo above is from their IG account). We have dinner in the cafe (there’s always live music) and then we get popcorn and catch a film. We’re probably the youngest people there by a couple decades, but I could care less because it’s the best. I look forward to it all week long. Bonus: I’m a sucker for the trailers—I DO NOT miss the trailers. (They’re almost as exciting as the movie itself!)

I have a running list of the movies we see each year and I thought it would be fun to share my favorites here, starting with 2021. So here it goes.

Favorite Movies of 2021 (in order of seeing them)

C’mon C’mon

Why: It’s sweet, creatively inspiring, and beautiful visually.

Dune

Why: It’s mystical, I’m a sucker for sci-fi, makes you feel transported to another universe.

Together

Why: First movie I saw to address life during the early pandemic, breaks the 4th wall, portrays bittersweet and honest relationships.

Nine Days

Why: It’s completely unique, the last 10 minutes is spell-binding, spiritually electrifying, gorgeous soundtrack.
